Rumaging in the attic I stumbled accross this little beauty! Maybe its just me but i think its a bit spesh...do you know what it it? Well apart from it being a stamp i did not know either. I had to make enquireis as to who M.Piper was, i thought perhaps a long lost relative...but no, M.Piper stands for Maris Piper, the type of potato! This little stamp was used by my family when they were growing potatoes; each and every potato sack was stamped with the potato type and number which related to our farm. I think its lovely, and again maybe it is just me with my printing obsession but i think it captures a little bit of my families history in a simple and sweet way. I feel a version of this making its way merrily into print...watch this space!

Adding to the collection, bit by bit.

So I've shown you some of the framed Poppy prints from the 'Poppy Collection'...but i thought i should let you see how the rest of the collection is coming together.
My working process is quite organic so i don't set off thinking 'Yes, this will be a ...' it just seems to happen. I like to let my drawings 'fall' into where they belong, which i hope gives the prints that i develop a nice fresh look!
Thought i'd show you a few of the first drawings that the collection is based on, they just seemed to spring up over the pages of my sketchbook. These sketches are quite raw, but i like the lines and marks in the drawings. It is very important to me that you can see that my work is hand drawn...i like an illustrative quality to remain in my print, so all of the little squiggles and dots that may seem very rough are important to me!

Lillian's House enjoys...COLOUR
...for me, colour is one of the most important elements when I'm thinking about print and all of the colour palettes on this blog, 'Color Collective' are so inspiring. Ive picked a few which appeal most to my Lillian's House mind, for the both the use of colour and styled imagery.
I wish that I had known about the Color Collective a tad sooner! Its only by reading the blog of a certain Vicky Trainor that I know about this place, thankyou Vicky!
all images from the Color Collective blog...go and have a look.

I just love how this looks!
Saw this clever little film last night...Catch Me If You Can... and yes althought the film was good Mr Spielberg, i was more enthralled by the title sequence! I love how the illustrations look as if they have been stamped or printed, inspired much, yes. Plus rather delicious colour ways, quite bold for me but perhaps a bold bit of colour is good for everyone now and again? Opening sequence by...Kuntzel & Deygas (2002). Do You like it too??

Rigwood Manor Moodboard
Hello today. I thought I'd share a few snaps of the moodboards that i used to inspire the little bridesmaids collection by Lillian's House. A few of the pieces from this collection were recently used in the 'Rigwood Manor' shoot, to be shown in full on 'Love My Dress' blog tommorow!
Sneak peeks of the shoot have been posted on my blog previously, so if you want a nosey just have a look through my archive.
Vintage stamps, old book covers, macaroon colours and round ranunculus blooms.

A light-hearted and fun 50's feel
The 'Rigwood Manor' shoot was orchestrated by two lovely ladies; Becky Mitchell a photographer and Vicky Trainor, a wedding staitioner. It was a prevelige to be involved in this project as it showcases what the north east has to offer to the wedding market! Lillian's House is only a new venture and to have work styled and photographed alongside many other talented suppliers was wonderful.
Keep reading for another post with all of the details of the other people Lillian's House worked with on this shoot.

i can see a theme developing...
I seem to be developing a bit of a thing for classical animal print, maybe it was after i went to Edinburgh Zoo last week? I picked up this wrapping paper from the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, and even though it got a bit crumpled on the way home, i still think its lovely. It features 18th Century Engraved prints of Animals, made by Frederica Cards, Bath. This little company seems quite quirky, featuring cards, wrapping paper and tags all based on British tradition and Heritage...

a bit of inspiration for the new year
I have been doing a bit of scouting around and this company keeps popping up as a brand that i find really inspirational...'Mini Moderns'. Mini Moderns is a range of interior products that has been designed by Absolute Zero Degrees as an offshoot of their already very well known and successfull brand.
What appeals to me are the constant clean and fun designs that are incorporated into Mini Moderns collections, particularly newer collaborations with Rob Ryan. Mini Moderns say that their deigns are for 'Kidults' - says it all to me!
Look at the collections based on Whitby and the slighly older collection known as 'Folk Rock', my faves. The colourways are just gorgeous!
